Steve Uhring is a steadfast community leader and a cherished local icon whose unwavering commitment to serving our community shows his deep love for our coastal paradise.
Known for his hands-on approach to community building, Uhring has spent years advocating to uphold Malibu’s Vision and Mission Statement.
His leadership and commitment have made him a go-to voice for residents navigating the challenges that come with living in our rural coastal paradise.
Entering his second term on Malibu City Council with the second highest vote count for the second time, Uhring continues to be a steadfast advocate for public safety. After the tragic accident that killed four Pepperdine students on October 17th, 2023, Uhring was an integral part of facilitating the long-term contract negotiations with California Highway Patrol to increase law enforcement presence and deter speeding motorists.
Uhring has consistently emphasized the importance of protecting Malibu’s unique character, while also taking into account the pressures of inevitable growth. His efforts to mediate between preserving Malibu’s legacy and planning for its future, have earned him widespread respect.
One of Uhring’s most notable contributions has been his work in disaster preparedness and recovery, particularly in the wake of devastating wildfires such as the Woolsey Fire of 2018. Uhring’s leadership during that time helped rally the community, ensuring that residents had the resources and information they needed to rebuild their lives.

Having spent most her childhood on sands of Zuma Beach, Cece left Southern California in her early 20’s, but it was only a matter of time before she returned to the idyllic place that held so many wonderful memories from her youth. In 2006, she made the journey back to Malibu permanently, the passion to preserve it was ignited. In 2012, Cece became involved in local environmental and political activism at the urging of former husband Steve Woods, a resident for more than 4o years. Together, they were involved in many high-profile environmental battles including the Malibu Lagoon Restoration Project, Measure R, Measure W, and more. Cece founded influential print and online media publications, 90265 Magazine in 2013 highlighting the authentic Malibu lifestyle, and The Local Malibu, an online news media site with a strategic focus on environmental and political activism. In the summer of 2018, Cece broke multiple global stories including the law enforcement cover-up in the Malibu Creek State Park Shootings, and is considered by major news media as a trusted authority on Malibu.
